DIR Method - (also known as Floortime, DIRFloortime or the Developmental, Individual Difference, Relationship-Based Model) is a comprehensive, multi-component intervention used to help children with educational, social-

emotional, mental health, and/or developmental challenges. The techniques used by this method “tailor interactions to the child’s nervous system, building spontaneous interactions harnessing a child’s natural interests to create emotional and social development, motor skills, visual-spatial skills, academic skills, and pleasure in a lifetime of learning. This model de-emphasizes surface behaviors and compliance and instead focuses on the building blocks of healthy development. This model requires special training and is an approach to communication and therapy that maximizes the potential of the brain by prioritizing connection and development, individual based differences.
